Looking Forward to the Future: IRS 2021 Sales Meeting

It was an exhilarating time when Industry Railway was finally able to gather for our annual Sales and Strategic Planning week. At last, our group gathered back together, and we finally regained the ability to invite our customers and vendors back to our facility. The site of normalcy was a beautiful one to behold.

This is always an important and exciting week for us. One filled with team building, product education and training, reviewing of the past year and planning for the year to come. The future looks bright for the railroad industry as a whole.

We kicked off the week with new product education by reviewing some of our new product development initiatives, additions to our leasing fleet, and our new line of battery operated tools.

Our IRS Leasing Program launched last year. Gathered around a new addition, the CD200 IQ. | Our newest battery-operated tool, the Matweld/Pandrol Battery Operated Weld Shear.

Vice President of Sales, Tom Gehr demonstrates our newest battery-operated tool: the Matweld/Pandrol Eco Shear battery-operated weld shear. The Eco Shear is made of steel for increased longevity yet reduced-weight at just 98 lbs. The weld shear is equipped with Pandrol full cast tipped shear blades that are easily replaceable. It also comes equipped with a power pack; the Milwaukee battery-operated drill plus two batteries.

IRS invited Norton Saint Gobain to our headquarters for a semi-annual performance testing on Norton rail cut-off wheels, a procedure Norton executes often to verify performance standards on their line of cut-off wheels. When testing, Norton uses three main points of evaluation: how quickly it cuts through rail, how easily it cuts through rail, and wheel durability/longevity.

Norton performs rail-cut off wheel testing at the IRS headquarters.

Later in the week, we invited customers in to share and participate in our product training for the Enerpac 120-ton Hydraulic Rail Puller. The Rail Puller uses a compact design built from durable alloy-steel and a swing arm that clamps firmly onto the rail, eliminating the need for separate jaws or wedges. It requires zero disassembly or reassembly for transportation or storage.

Scott Commo, President, Industry-Railway Suppliers said with elation, “It was so refreshing to meet again in person. It was a fantastic and productive week spent with our IRS staff, vendors and customers. We sure accomplished a lot. Thank you, all!”
