The unique design of the SL450 handles wood or concrete ties, and allows for up to 4 adjacent ties to be laid simultaneously. It also allows the user to spread the ties to their desired spacing of between 18 to 30 inches, depending upon the specifications of the project.
This four-tie layer can also be equipped with an optional tilt/rotator head, which gives the operator precise, 360-degree control of the loading and placement of ties, or with a stand alone rotator. The SL450 hydraulic-powered attachment is designed for high-output tie laying with minimal ballast disturbance and is easily adjustable to fit most concrete or wood ties.
When mounted to a material handling truck, the SL450 will transload ties or can be utilized as a tie-laying device while building sidings. The compact design of this railroad tie layer uses a telescopic frame, and a unique linkage system that enhances safety – the center of gravity will not change when spreading rail ties.
