This 1-3/16” annular drill bit has been manufactured by Trak-Star. It’s part of the Twister line of drill bits, which are built from hardened M42 HSS (molybdenum) steel with a titanium aluminum nitride (TiAIN) coating.

This 1-3/16” Twister rail drill bit uses a strong, thick core with a durable coating to deliver excellent cutting performance on rail sections of all types. It’s designed to be compatible with all common railroad power drills and utilizes a simple quarter-turn mount for installation and removal. This quickens projects and enhances convenience for your maintenance-of-way team.

An added benefit of this 1-3/16" annular drill bit is that it helps eliminate issues like stress cracks and thermally-activated embrittlement. Testing by the AAR showed that when using this 1-3/16" Twister rail drill bit, rail temperatures around the cutting hole were only 35° F higher than outside temperatures.
