The J.Lanfranco 1-1/8”-7 THU Self Locking Nut is a heavy-duty, full-height hex nut possessing self-locking technology. These innovative nuts provide unparalleled vibration resistance even when subjected to heavy loads and high train traffic, and do not require routine tightening and maintenance like the other nut-and-lock-washer method.

The THU’s single-piece unique design incorporates two locking slots. When tightened using an impact wrench or any other standard tool, these slots expand and grip the bolt flanks evenly across two planes, tightly locking the nut into position. These locknuts do not require any additional inserts for installation and can also be removed and reused.

While traditional locknuts need to be tightened every 2-7 days on critical parts of rail, these self-locking nuts are proven to hold tight without loosening, making them particularly useful on diamonds and turnouts, which are prone to frequent loosening.

The THU greatly reduces overall waste including labor time and labor expenses, and broken components and castings, while also increasing the safety of your workers as they don’t need to spend as much time out on highly trafficked areas of track.
