IRS Expands Into Trackwork Components
For sixty years we've helped railroaders maintain and repair their track with thousands of different tools, from abrasives all the way up to production equipment. Now, we're excited to announce that we're expanding into a new category for IRS: trackwork components.

Our New Partnership with Atlantic Track
Like IRS, Atlantic Track has been serving the railroad industry for decades. Since 1964, Atlantic Track has continuously expanded its manufacturing and distribution capabilities and has grown into a full-service railroad manufacturing and supply company. Through our new partnership with them, IRS is now stocking and distributing trackwork components.
Why Trackwork Components
Because turnouts play such an important role in the railway system and are subject to some of the heaviest wear on the railroad, expanding into trackwork components was a natural next step for IRS.
A turnout has a big job. It provides greater flexibility to the rail network by allowing trains to move from one track to another without the need for an entirely new track. But its flexibility is complex because a turnout functions as a system of trackwork components.
Those trackwork components depend on each other, working together to handle the tremendous, shifting forces created as a train moves through. So when one component wears, it changes how those forces are distributed, putting additional stress on all the components.
