2-ounce bottle of temperature indicating liquid that verifies when both rail base and head have reached 400 degrees Fahrenheit for correct preheating temperature for proper thermite welding of the rail.
How it works:
Before preheating begins, mark the rail base and rail head 2.5 inches from the rail end. At this point, the lacquer appears as a grey-ish color and dries almost instantly. Once the rail has reached the correct preheating temperatire of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 232 degrees celcius, the lacquer liquifies to a noticeably different mark.
- Only have to apply laquer a single time before preheating begins
- Safer, allowing user to stay away from preheat area
- Excellent accuracy, within +/-1%
