Description
2-ounce bottle of temperature indicating liquid that verifies when both rail base and head have reached 400 degrees Fahrenheit for correct preheating temperature for proper thermite welding of the rail. Shop all our inventory of railroad track tools today.
How it works:
Before preheating begins, mark the rail base and rail head 2.5 inches from the rail end. At this point, the lacquer appears as a grey-ish color and dries almost instantly. Once the rail has reached the correct preheating temperatiretemperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 232 degrees celciusCelsius, the tempilaq lacquer paint liquifies to a noticeably different mark.
-
- Only have to apply lacquer a single time before preheating begins
- Safer, allowing user to stay away from preheat area
- Excellent accuracy, within +/-1%
