Description
This 7” Cotter Key Spreader is ¾” in diameter with a tapered point, and is a great tool for the bending of cotter keys/pins, and makes the securing, aligning and/or removing of cotter keys a fast and simple process. A cotter key or cotter pin is a metal fastening device used to hold moveable parts in place by bending and aligning the metal legs (tines). It’s made of thick metal wire bent into a U shape, but they can vary in size and shape.
Cotter keys contain metal legs that are to be bent upwards to lock the key/pin in place as they hold moving components of an axle or other parts in mechanical railroad applications.
